How to apply for the status electronically on the CV and vacancies portal?

To apply for the status of an unemployed person and for unemployment benefits on the State Employment Agency’s CV and vacancies portal, the following steps must be taken no earlier than the day after the termination of the employment relationship:

    • Select the option "Pieteikšanās bezdarbnieka vai darba meklētāja statusam" (“Application for the status of an unemployed person or a job seeker”);
  5. step
    • Choose the option "Pieteikties bezdarbnieka statusam" (“Apply for the status of an unemployed person”) and specify the State Employment Agency branch you want to work with;
  6. step
    • If you are entitled to unemployment benefit, please also fill in the current information for the benefit.

    • To complete the application, click on “Pieteikties bezdarbnieka statusam” (“Apply for the status of an unemployed person”).

Where can I find the information about the time of the scheduled consultation?

Information about the time and date of the scheduled consultation can be found by logging in to the State Employment Agency’s CV and vacancies portal, in your profile you will see the next scheduled events. More information can be found in your individual job search plan.

Who and how should I notify when I start employment relationship?

When concluding an employment contract, you must inform the State Employment Agency adviser by phone or e-mail within one working day. You can also provide this information by calling the information line (+371) 80200206.

If you have concluded a contract for a limited period of up to 60 calendar days, you must send a copy of your employment contract electronically to your State Employment Agency adviser within one working day of the start of the employment relationship or present the employment contract to your adviser in person, preferably by arranging an appointment at the branch in advance.

Who should I notify of my illness and absence from consultation?

If you are ill and will not attend your scheduled consultation, inform your State Employment Agency adviser by phone or e-mail. You can also provide this information by calling the free information line (+371) 80200206.

After the period of sick-leave, you must report to your State Employment Agency adviser on the next working day with supporting documents for the entire period of sickness, preferably by prior agreement.

How can I withdraw from the status of an unemployed person?

You can withdraw from the status of an unemployed person electronically by sending a message to the State Employment Agency’s CV and vacancies portal 

Please proceed as follows:

  1. Enter https://cvvp.nva.gov.lv/#/pub/ in the browser field
  2. Click on  “Pieslēgties” (“Log in”) at the top right corner.
  3. Log in using one of the latvija.lv authentication methods.
  4. Click on the “Sūtīt ziņu” (“Send a message”), paper plane icon, at the top right corner.
  5. Select the State Employment Agency employee to whom the message is to be addressed. In the message, write that you want to withdraw from the status of an unemployed person.

If you have no electronic means of authorisation, you can submit a signed application to withdraw from the status of an unemployed person in person at the State Employment Agency branch or by post.

Please note that once you have given up your status of an unemployed person, you will not be able to re-apply for unemployment again until 3 months after the date on which the decision to lose your unemployment status was taken.

Where can I find my job search diary and how do I fill it in?

You can find the job search diary here on the website of the State Employment Agency. The job search diary is designed to record the results of job vacancies and to inform the State Employment Agency about your job search. The diary should record information about the vacancies you have applied for – occupation or position, name of the workplace, contact details of the employer. You can send the diary to your State Employment Agency adviser electronically before the consultation via the CV and vacancies portal or by e-mail, or present it in paper format during the consultation.

How can I apply for training and other measures of the State Employment Agency?

You can apply for the measures of the State Employment Agency with your State Employment Agency adviser during a consultation or by sending an e-mail requesting participation in a particular measure. You can also register your wish to participate in one of the measures by logging in to the State Employment Agency’s CV and vacancies portal in the ‘’Pasākumi’’ (“Measures”) section of your profile. An employee will assess the application and the need for participation to facilitate your return to the labour market.

Do I have the right to change my State Employment Agency adviser?

Yes, you have the right to change your State Employment Agency adviser by writing to the head of the branch. The application can be submitted electronically signed to the e-mail address of the branch, hand-signed in person or sent by post.

How can I change my chosen customer service location?

You can change your branch or customer service centre electronically by submitting an application on the State Employment Agency’s CV and vacancies portal 

Please proceed as follows:

  1. Enter https://cvvp.nva.gov.lv/#/pub/ in the browser field
  2. Click on ‘’Pieslēgties’’ (“Log in”) at the top right corner
  3. Log in using one of the latvija.lv authentication methods.
  4. Click on the “Sūtīt ziņu” (“Send a message”), paper plane icon, at the top right corner.
  5. Select the State Employment Agency employee to whom the message is to be addressed. In the message, write that you are registered at branch or customer service centre A and you want to be serviced at branch or customer service centre B in the future.

If you have no electronic means of authorisation, you can submit your signed application in person or by post at a customer service point of the State Employment Agency that is more convenient for you.

Do I need an electronic signature to apply for the status of an unemployed person and for the benefit on the website?

To electronically apply for the status of an unemployed person and for unemployment benefit on the website of the State Employment Agency CV and vacancies portal, you need to log in to the portal with one of the qualified electronic identification means – mobile app eParaksts mobile, ID card (eID card), eParaksts card or qualified version of mobile app Smart-ID, or official identification means of other European Union Member States.

How can I get a certificate of the status of an unemployed person?

You can ask your State Employment Agency adviser to prepare a certificate of the status of an unemployed person. You can express this need during the consultation or by sending a message to the State Employment Agency’s CV and vacancies portal.

Can I register at any SEA branch?

You have the right to register at any branch where it will be more convenient for you to come for counselling, regardless of your declared address of residence.

One-time employment or self-employment benefit for civilians of Ukraine

When starting employment relationship or registering as self-employed, Ukrainian civilians are entitled to apply for a one-time benefit of the minimum wage. Within one month from the date of commencement of employment relationship or from the date of registration as self-employed, an application for the benefit must be submitted to any State Employment Agency branch.
